Identification starts at the interior frame edge. ES Windows stamps a serial label on the hinge jamb of hinged doors and the fixed panel stile of sliders; for patio doors, check the top rail interior face for a foil label with the series prefix (ES-80 or ES-90), manufacturing date, and NOA number if impact-rated. If the label is sun-faded, measure the exposed glass daylight opening and the frame depth: 2-5/16 inch frame depth indicates 8000 Series, 2-11/16 inch indicates 9000 Series. The roller housing width also differs - 3-3/4 inch for 8000, 4-1/2 inch for 9000 - and forcing the wrong assembly into the cavity cracks the bottom rail.

We source OEM ES Windows hardware through authorized distribution, but for rollers and weatherstrip we often specify aftermarket equivalents from Truth Hardware or Amesbury that meet the same load and cycle specifications at lower cost. The exception is impact-rated locking hardware: any component that contributes to the missile-impact certification must carry the same Miami-Dade NOA as the original, or the assembly fails inspection. • The panel stalls or requires shoulder weight to move. This is almost always roller degradation. The bearings seize from salt corrosion or the wheel flats from grit embedding in the tread. • Track deformation or visible wear grooves. The stainless cap on 9000 Series tracks can delaminate from the aluminum extrusion when rollers seize and skid rather than roll. Once the cap lifts, the panel drops, the weatherstrip compresses unevenly, and the cycle accelerates. We’ve replaced entire sill tracks in Las Olas Isles homes where this went unaddressed for two seasons.
• Condensation between glass lites on dual-pane units. The insulated glass seal has failed. This is not a hardware issue but a glazing failure, and it requires full sash replacement or IGU reglazing. ES Windows IGUs use a warm-edge spacer; aftermarket replacements must match the overall thickness and Low-E coating spec or the U-factor and SHGC change, which matters for energy compliance in Florida’s climate zone.
