- Sash drops or won’t stay raised. The balance shoe or block-and-tackle assembly has detached from the jamb liner, usually because the installation shim gap was too wide and allowed frame flex. In Fort Lauderdale’s humidity cycle, that flex works the screw out of the vinyl jamb.

- Operation gets stiffer seasonally. The frame is expanding against a too-tight rough opening. ES Windows vinyl has a coefficient of thermal expansion of 3.0 x 10^-5 in/in-°F; a 36-inch frame moves roughly 1/16 inch between a 55°F January morning and an 85°F July afternoon in Fort Lauderdale. The installation must leave that room.

Beyond that, ES Windows installation involves structural fasteners, sealant chemistry, and water-management sequencing that determines whether the wall rots. The ES 5000 and ES 8000 are impact-rated assemblies; if the fastener schedule or anchor embedment depth is wrong, the product loses its Miami-Dade approval and your insurance coverage may not recognize the installation.
We don’t recommend DIY removal of an installed ES Windows unit. The frame is screwed through the flange into studs or block; the sealant bond is structural; and the sash weight on a 60-inch wide ES 8000 horizontal roller exceeds 80 pounds.
